A RED LETTER DAY.

Today we filled the car with kit,
Our skills against the fish to pit,
The sky was grey but clouds were high,
It did'nt look like rain was nigh.

We today tried a new fishery (for us) ,it is just a couple of miles outside of Paignton. We had never heard of it,but apparently it has been there quite some time. The day threatened rain but we only had one heavy shower.First impressions were'nt great the road down was very bumpy and the entrance narrow, when arriving at the site hut to pay, we were greeted very pleasantly by the owner who could'nt do enough to help. This was good news as we are both disabled and a little help goes a long way.
At the fishery there are two lakes, one for specimen Carp and cat fish (The bottom lake),the other a mixed fishery of skimmer Bream, Carp,Tench, Crucian Carp ,Roach etc. The lakes have hard paths to each peg, they are on hard standings with wooden surrounds. You can see he really tries (apparently he only took over in Sept). We decided to fish the top lake ,pegs are mostly close to car parks. We fished in adjacent pegs, and ended the day with 15 roach -1 Carp around 3lb- 3Breamof 2.5 to 3lbs, plus 2 lovely Crucian Carp one around 1lbs .4ozs (my best ever) a really enjoyable day for early winter fishing which can be very hard.Even Sue liked it and caught her share of the fish.
