JULY OR AUGUST.

This Picture from the front of Shammickite magazine for July/Aug is especially for Ex-Shammickite and anyone else who may remember it.

That time of year is here once more,
Its time to head for sea or shore,
Were all off work or most it seems,
Trying to fulfill our holiday dreams.

The kids they all broke up last week,
Our holiday times are at their peak,
We try to nip off for a week or two.
To seek out places old and new.

We've pondered brochures and TV ads,
Even asked our mums and dads,
Trying to decide just where to go,
Even now we still don't know.

We thought of Blackpool, Morecombe or Looe,
Perhaps Torquay , Dawlish or Crewe,
Then there's Clacton ,Weston and lots more,
Somewhere clean and tidy for sure.

At Butlins ,Pontins or any holiday site,
Could even be the Isle of Wight,
Chalets, Caravans, tents if we like,
In Cars on bikes or even a hike.

Whatever we finally decide to do,
The roads will be full of me and you,
All sitting in queues a bloody mile long
Thinking perhaps we got it wrong.

Great poem, B.B.Bob, and thanks for the SHAMMICKITE! I've got a few of these magazines tucked away here, in fact I think I have copies of the first edition somewhere... back in the 1970s I think.
No, I don't remember that particular carnival, but I know exactly where on the main street the pic is taken.
Thanks... WAAAA! you're making me homesick again!
